There are many high-quality venues for cultural and entertainment events. Pretty well all of them are centrally located.
One example is Palladium, which since 2004 has been a meeting place for cultural events in southern Sweden and the Öresund region. Palladium is run by Musik i Syd - and is a former cinema that has been renovated and equipped to meet the stage requirements for music and dance. The well-known Guldfoajén has retained its 1920s atmosphere thanks to the careful renovation of its walls, ceiling paintings and interior fittings.
At the time of its inauguration in 1904 Slagthuset was one of Europe's most modern industrial premises, and at the same time one of the most attractive. With its big spaces, high ceilings, granite floors, iron pillars and 40 different sorts of brick, the building was unique of its kind. The renovated brick edifice with its glazed-in courtyards was re-inaugurated in 1991. It provides 8,500 m2 of space, which is used for conferences and entertainments. Banquets, exhibitions and conferences alternate with musicals, stage programmes and nightclub events.
Malmö Concert Hall was built in 1985 and is run by the Malmö Symphony Orchestra (MSO). The concert hall has a fine acoustic. It offers an overall solution for events, providing a venue, food and a hotel. The concert-hall section is on three levels. The foyers are spacious and light, with opportunities for mini-trade fairs, workshops or other activities.
As well as these examples there are many other venues for cultural and entertainment events.
