Sport and recreation

The venues in the stadium area are flexible and can be used for various kinds of events. Baltiska hallen is a sports and events hall accommodating around 4,000 spectators. It is used for handball and basketball training and league games, and is also much used for major sporting events, concerts, shows and galas of various kinds. Baltiska hallen has been the venue for the Davis Cup (tennis), the World Handball Championship, the European Wrestling Championship, the European Karate Championship, shows featuring the Harlem Globetrotters and concerts by The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Gilbert O'Sullivan and others. Baltiska hallen permits various stage and gallery solutions that can create the right atmosphere, including for small concerts.

Isstadion, which holds 5,800 spectators, is the stadium area's biggest sports and events space. It is primarily used for ice activities, e.g. ice hockey, figure skating and ice shows such as Holiday on Ice, but can also be used for concerts. Some of the big events that have been held in the arena are the World Badminton Championship, the European Figure Skating Championship, Cirkus Scott, Deep Purple, Frank Sinatra, Julio Iglesias and the Eurovision Song Contest.

As well as the indoor halls in the stadium area there are a number of sports halls and special facilities of varying sizes around Malmö. Aq-va-kul, with its competition and teaching pools, diving facility, adventure bath and relaxation section, is mainly used for both minor and major swimming competitions, but it can also be hired for various events.
