Sport and recreation

Sport and recreation means both local sports cups and international sporting events.

Many sports associations have discovered the advantages of holding international matches, Swedish and international championships in Malmö's many arenas, special facilities and grounds. Flexible solutions also allow musical and cultural events, galas and shows, with the possibility of some equipment hire, e.g. tents, stages, stands etc.

Malmö stadion is the biggest and best-known of the outdoor arenas, and is where Malmö FF football club plays its home matches. It is also where many of the big names in athletics have competed and set world records, and where several major musical events have taken place. Not far from it is Malmö IP, a small, more intimate arena for various events.

In the summer Limhamnsfältet at Ribersborgsstranden is a hive of activity. It includes gravel pitches for 7-a-side football, an American-football pitch, a baseball pitch and a rugby pitch. It hosts many sports cups such as Örestad Open (boules), Öresundsbro Cup and MFF Support Cup (football). The City of Malmö also puts on popular summer activities here for children and young people during their holidays, offering everything from skateboarding and climbing to kite-flying and Latin American dance.
