Advice and collaboration
City of Malmö staff can often assist you by sharing their knowledge and experience during the work on planning events. This may be with regard to finance, venues, marketing etc. Do get in touch at an early stage with the department you think may be most closely affected. Written documentation in the form of a description, a budget or a sketch are usually helpful by way of preparation for a meeting. If you are unsure of anything, please contact MINT (Marketing - Information - Trade & Industry - Tourism) at the City Office, +46 (0)40-34 13 09.
Marketing
City of Malmö offers easily available information on all events held in Malmö - regardless of whether City of Malmö is the organiser. The following are important information channels:

For events for which City of Malmö has a particularly big role - as a sponsor, co-organiser etc. - the marketing support may be more active and targeted. It may, for example, be in the form of press information or advertising collaboration.

Funding
Malmö Division for Cultural Grants, +46 (0)40-34 48 50, offers funding for independent cultural events in Malmö, i.e. cultural activities outside the framework of the cultural institutions. Funding can be applied for by cultural organisations based in Malmö, and it is chiefly awarded for public cultural activities at professional level, e.g. in the fields of music, theatre, dance, art, film and literature. Another form of funding is issued to the adult-education associations.
Fixed application times are applied and special forms must be used. Please contact one of the Malmö Division for Cultural Grants handling agents for information and advice.
Malmö Leisure, Recreation and Sport Department, +46 (0)40-34 25 20, chiefly provides funding for Non Governmental Organizations for children, young people and the disabled in Malmö. Most of the funding is for organised recreational activities for children and young people, and takes the form of activity support, consultancy grants etc. NGOs can also apply for event funding for major events of general interest, in which case guarantees against loss are a common form of support. Please contact the Leisure Recreation and Sport Department´s NGO office for more detailed information.
Malmö Leisure, Recreation and Sport Department manages and coordinates sports grounds and sports venues all over Malmö and rents out equipment for sport and other recreational activities. The rent for facilities and equipment is subsidised for registered Malmö-based NGOs. There is a zero tax rating for activities involving children and young people. The same kind of subsidy is awarded for certain facilities and venues managed by the city-district administrations, e.g. in Ungdomens Hus at N Skolgatan, +46 (0)40-34 25 38.
Donation funds, +46 (0)40-34 11 32. The City of Malmö manages a large number of private donation funds that award funding and grants for various purposes, e.g. activities for children and young people and for the elderly.
Central local-government support. The City Executive Board can provide various forms of support for certain major events of general importance to the city. These cases are prepared by City of Malmö's MINT group. Enquiries are handled either by the City Office, +46 (0)40-34 13 09, or one of the specialist departments concerned.
Events collaboration
The City of Malmö has its own extensive events operations. There is often collaboration with external players, associations, public organisations, industry and commerce etc.
The Streets & Parks Department's Events Unit, 020-34 45 00, organises a number of Malmö City's own major outdoor events. By far the biggest and best known is the Malmö Festival. Walpurgis and midsummer celebrations and Christmas activities are other recurrent programmes.
City of Malmö´s cultural institutions, the institutes of dramatic arts, the City Library, Malmö Museums, Malmö Art Gallery, Malmö Kulturkompani and others are responsible for many of the city's cultural events in the form of performances, concerts, exhibitions, children's cultural events and much more. Please contact the Culture Department, +46 (0)40-34 48 56, for further information.
Malmö Leisure, Recreation and Sport Department, +46 (0)40-34 25 20, puts on its own events for young people and is also active as a co-organiser, especially with regard to events in the field of sport and athletics.
Other departments work to varying degrees on events within their areas of special responsibility, e.g. the Urban Environment Department, the City Planning Department and the City-District Departments. Malmö's ten city districts are responsible for kindergartens, schools and geriatric care within their geographical areas, as well as local recreational and cultural activities.
Malmö Folkets Park (community park), +46 (0)40-34 15 50, is run as a collaboration between City of Malmö and a number of non-profit-making and private players. Folkets Park has several outdoor stages and other facilities, and puts on its own programmes in the summer, as well as collaborating with external organisers.
