The entire area covers some 50 hectares. Work is currently underway on planning programmes for two parts of the area - for the slipway area and for a future city park. Towards Stora Varvsgatan, NCC Fastigheter AB has plans for building an office block opposite the Kockums office building "Gängtappen". Of the two slipways in the area, architectural work has been carried out on the outer one.
The office building is not going to be built specifically for any one line of business or tenant. It will serve as a living building with a mixture of many different tenants. These ideas form part of the "Business Park" concept and answer the need for a building that can adapt itself to the varying businesses and requirements of its tenants. The building's architecture will be most striking to give it a distinctive profile and act together with its proprietary name. The proprietary name is "Arken" (the Ark) which will be incorporated into the company's marketing and associated with the area's marina and coastal character, with shipping, launching and water.
The inner slipway will be preserved in its present state and will be used as a parkway. Office buildings will be built in the area closest to Östra Varvsgatan.
In another part, a new school is under construction in the city park. The park is next to Bo01 and Turning Torso in the west, planned housing in the north and east and exhibition halls in the south.
