This neighbourhood includes the former Saab Aircraft building, which following its conversion is now being used by Teknikportalen. The area is bordered in the west by Västra Varvsgatan, in the east by Stora Varvsgatan and in the south by Skeppsbyggaregatan. It covers an area of about 7.7 hectares and is owned by Midroc Project Management AB. The future development of the area is currently being investigated in a planning programme and in an in-depth general plan. Plans are to construct hotels, offices and housing in the area.
An extension has been built on the Industrial Hall for the Flextronics business. Eventually the hall will be altered and perhaps even replaced by new buildings.
A seven-storey building with a total of 20,000 sq metres of hotel and office space is planned for the northeast corner of the area. In order to implement this project, Midroc and NCC have merged to form a company called Västra Hamnporten KB. Four architect's offices were invited to submit their proposals for the building, and the commission has been given to a Norwegian office, Ramstad+Bryn Arkitektur AS. An office building of the same height is planned for the southwest part of the area. There are plans to construct offices and premises for the Flextronics business between these two buildings in the area towards the west, with a view of the Sound.
