HeleneholmUpperSecondary School was built between 1960 and 1962. The building is typical of the sixties. The architect was Carl Nyrén and in 1965 it was awarded Sweden´s finest prize, the Kasper Sahlin-prize.
At the beginning it was a vocational school and for some years an elementary school but in 1985 it became HeleneholmUpperSecondary School.
The classrooms are well equipped with TV, video and DVD´s and most of them also have video canons and computers to enable power-point presentations. In our school library students can get help from our librarians and use the computers.
Other equipment for the performances of the Arts Programme is continuously being updated and the Natural Science Programme has access to laptops for the collection and adaptation of data.
Our students have an active pupils´ council and also a sports club.
HeleneholmUpperSecondary School has one Principal, two Assistant Headmasters and a number of head teachers, who are responsible for the different subjects.
About 1000 pupils are studying at five different programmes: The Child and Recreation Programme, The Arts Programme, The Natural Science Programme and The Social Science Programme. In addition to these programmes we also have an Individual Programme (directed to The Child and Recreation Programme)
