We offer two choices:
- Science
- Science and Music
The Science Programme at HeleneholmUpperSecondary School gives you a broad qualification for further studies. You will get a comprehensive view of the science courses and also an ability to solve problems. Our school offers advanced studies in Bio-Medicine, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. If you have a special interest in music we can give you the opportunity to develop in this area as well.
If you are interested in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics and you enjoy making laboratory experiments, you should choose the Science Programme. This choice involves advanced studies and will provide you for further studies at university level. If you want to become e.g. a doctor, a civil engineer, a physicist or a chemist but also a lawyer or a journalist this programme would be the natural choice for you.
From autumn 2010 you can add special merit points to your application for further studies. The merits depend on what subjects you choose to study e.g. Modern languages, English and Mathematics . If you choose the Arts Programme, you will be able to achieve the maximum merits of 2.5 extra points.
Here with us you will encounter a very friendly atmosphere. Our students feel secure and comfortable at our school. All our teachers are qualified and competent. Several times a week we make experiments in small groups. There is also modern equipment available, e.g. computer microscopes and PCR machines. Sometimes we make excursions and study visits and we do keep in touch with companies and universities.
There is also a possibility to choose extra advanced courses within the fields of Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics. Year 3 will also include one week outside school as a trainee e.g. at the University or at a company. If you should need extra help with your studies, competent teachers will be there to assist you.
