We offer three choices:
- Social Science with an International Profile (HIP)
- Social Science with a Music Profile
The Social Science Programme prepares you for university studies with emphasis on Social Science, History, Swedish and Modern languages. You will develop your ability to express yourself, analyse and solve problems within different areas. You will also be trained to see connections between different areas in the society. Some of the teaching material will be in English thus preparing for university studies.
From autumn 2010 you can add special merit points to your application for further studies. The merits depend on what subjects you choose to study e.g. Modern languages, English and Mathematics . If you choose the Social Science Programme, you will be able to achieve the maximum merits of 2.5 extra points.
International Profile (HIP)
Our international profile is for those who want to learn about people´s living conditions and who take a great interest in global matters and are willing to work abroad.
We will focus on sustainable development in areas of health and social improvement of societies. The students make a study tour to theBaltic Stateswhere we collaborate with institutions against trafficking and addiction and for those who have HIV/AIDS.
Year 3 the students will spend two weeks in a country that has a high level of people with HIV/AIDS to study the actual conditions there through voluntary work and study visits.
All the subjects have an international approach and we work across fields of study in projects. This choice offers a more intensive study in Social Study C, Geography B as well as in International Relations.
Music Profile
This choice is based on Social Science with a local profile of music courses and arts activities. Some of the character subjects will be exchanged with music subjects.
The teaching of Music consists of three parts:
- Instrument or Singing
- Ensemble — together with the Science Programme
- Pitch and Music Theory — a basis for developing playing
This choice is for those who have a basic experience of singing or playing instruments. An interest in music can be connected with advanced studies of Social Science which qualify for university studies. This choice starts in year one.
