The exhibition IMPRESSIONS - Linnaeus, Science and Print, which opened October 14th 2007 at The Malmö Museums, investigates Linnaeus´ personality as part of 18th Century´s society of science.
It raises the question of how a young and rather unknown physician manages to get in touch with the most prominent European natural and medical scientists. How does a person without means manage to get commissions and scholarships in order to finance his research and carry out his dreams and plans for the future? How does he manage to create a place for himself in society and at the same time carry out pioneer research?
The exhibition illustrates these questions in the light of Linnaeus´ own period - the Enlightenment.
