The Room for Photography is a centre for displaying photography through exhibitions, seminars and workshops.
In a world where truths and borders are in a constant state of flux, the Room for Photography will continuously question and redefine storytelling through images.
The goal is to have a space that breathes of life where involved visitors will be able to deepen their interest and knowledge of photography and it's role in cultural history and storytelling, as well as its function as an artistic expression, a means of influence and a source of knowledge.
Photography as a media is becoming increasingly more important in how we show and experience contemporary society. Therefore it's important that the museums have an active part in collecting, preserving and distributing photographs. It's a media that in today's society has a strong potential as a means of conveying values and creating role models.
Therefore it's important to create an arena where we can observe the problems and intricacies with the photographic expression and analyze it's uses from several different perspectives, such as gender, class and ethnicity.
